Research Interests:
My research interests focus on using biochemical and molecular methods to advance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying key biological and physiological events in insects.   Our end goal is to use this knowledge to develop ecologically friendly, species-specific modes of pest control.   My research group is currently interested in understanding how olfactory signal transduction pathways function in the western tarnished plant bug, Lygus hesperus, and the whitefly, Bemisia tabaci.   We are also pursuing research centered on elucidating the molecular mechanisms used to trigger stereotypical post-mating behavioral and physiological responses in female Lygus hesperus.
