Research Project: INTEGRATED RANGELAND MONITORING AND ASSESSMENT ACROSS SCALES

Location: Range Management Research

Project Number: 6235-11210-007-05
Project Type: Nonfunded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 01, 2012
End Date: Dec 31, 2016

Objective:
The objectives of this cooperative research project are to continue implementation and development of the Landscape Toolbox project, and to develop technologies for integrative assessment and monitoring of rangelands at multiple scales in the context of landscape ecological potential.

Approach:
Collaborative research will be designed and implemented at jointly identified sites in the western United States including Idaho. Research will focus on: 1) designing methods for describing ecological sites and ecological potential at multiple scales in a globally-consistent manner, 2) designing assessment and monitoring technologies appropriate for both ground based and remotely-sensed indicators of ecosystem properties linked to those ecological site descriptions, and 3) development of integrated knowledge and information systems to support ecosystem management.
