Research Project:
DEVELOPING COMMERCIALLY-VIABLE INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS FROM BIOFUELS BYPRODUCTS
Location: North Central Agricultural Research Laboratory
Project Number: 5447-12620-003-07
Project Type:
Specific Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Sep 15, 2010
End Date: Sep 14, 2012
Objective:
The objective of this collaborative project is to develop, process, evaluate, and simulate value-added processing operations for low-value biofuels byproducts.
Approach:
1. Physically and chemically modify the material properties of low-value components of various biofuels byproduct streams in order to facilitate their conversion into value-added industrial products.
2. Examine industrial processes (such as injection and compression molding) to convert low-value components of various biofuels byproduct streams into value-added products.
3. Optimize industrial processes (such as injection and compression molding) to convert low-value components of various biofuels byproduct streams into value-added products.
