Technical Abstract: This is a series of articles designed to highlight the unique aspects of insect biology, provide insight on the interactions between insects and humans, and to present information on pest management. Topic insects will include economically important pests, natural enemies, and commonly encountered insects in human environments. One of the goals is to present the amazing and wondrous aspects of insects, not simply to describe how to kill them. In the end, these articles should raise awareness of insects that occur all around us, and to increase the visibility of ARS in the region of eastern SD, MN, and IA.
