Interpretive Summary: Plant parasitic nematodes continue to be a problem on peach in Georgia if not managed properly. Providing Georgia peach growers with updated information on nematode management practices would be very useful in establishing and maintaining a productive orchard. The Peach Growers Handbook (Nematode Chapter) was last revised in 1989. In 2001, a revision of the entire book was undertaken. Select experts from their respective fields were asked to revise specific chapters. the Nematode Chapter was revised with updated information dealing with management strategies to control ring, root-knot, and root-lesion nematodes. Biology of the different nematodes was also revised. This revised Peach Growers Handbook will provide growers with the must current information and recommendation practices available for peach nematode control and information in Georgia.

Technical Abstract: The nematode chapter briefly addresses the history, biology, sampling procedures, and diseases associated with the 3 major nematode pests (ring, root-knot, and root-lesion nematodes) on peach in Georgia. Also discussed are current nematode management strategies such as rootstock resistance, crop rotation, chemical control, and sanitation. This revised chapter will serve as an excellent reference book for peach growers, extension personnel, homeowners, and scientists in Georgia and possible surrounding states.
